More than 200 people, from the local community and as far away as Ontario, Canada, came together on October 5, 2008, at the Pilot Travel Center in Beaverdam, OH, to dedicate the Second Chance TFC Chapel. The local paper was also there and featured the event in print and on their Web Site. Mobile Chapel Ministers to Truckers, by Liz Olson, featured the dedication of the recently placed TFC Chapel at that truck stop, located on I-75 & 30N, Exit 13. You can read the story online by clicking here. "The chapel will see to the spiritual needs of visitors, but it will also take care of some more down-to-earth needs, like rides to the pharmacy or the doctor. This is all part of what we do as chaplains," said Wayne Dunlap, Lead Chaplain of the Toledo Chapel, who will also be lending a hand at the new Beaverdam chapel. Chaplain Wayne Dunlap introduced those who helped birth the vision 17 years ago. The seed for the vision was planted by Larry Lee, a local truck driver. Pastor Charles Warren along with Chaplains Dave Lugibihl and Dean Diller joined Larry to see this dream come to pass. Three of the men were present at the dedication (Lee went to be with Lord a few years ago). Wayne also recognized Mahlon Geiger, who coordinated the work, and all the volunteers present who had a part to play in the construction of the chapel. The mobile chapel is "awesome. It's something we've wanted for so many years," said Ruth Hefner, of Columbus Grove. Ruth's brother, Dave Lughibil -- who serves as a volunteer chaplain for Beaverdam -- worked for 17 years to see this vision become reality.
