Fox 31 of Denver, Colorado featured Transport For Christ during their one of their Sunday evening news broadcast. Each week one of their photojournalists presents a video essay "highlighting people and places around Colorado" as part of a series Fox 31 calls Signature Stories. On April 27, 2008 Bryon Stewart produced a Signature Story titled Transport For Christ featuring our very own TFC Denver Chapel located at the Sapp Brothers Truck Plaza (I-70, Exit 278). Lead Chaplain John Mitchell explained during the interview, "Truckers are a sub-culture within our country who deal with loneliness out on the road. They are gone four to six weeks at a time and often cannot bring their big truck to a church parking lot, so we park a chapel here in the truck stop." Volunteer Chaplain John Staats also shared that TFC is in the marketplace where the people are--the way Jesus operated--helping them with whatever problems they have. "It's a blessing" Driver Edwin Alvarez stated during the story, "being able to come to a chapel [of] Transport For Christ and share God's love, mercy and understanding." "We are always looking for volunteer chaplains or financial and prayer partners. We are always looking for new people to be involved.", Chaplain John Mitchell said. An informational meeting to share how you can get involved is being held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 10th at the Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church located at 13231 E. Mississippi Ave. in Aurora, Colorado. You can contact Chaplain John Mitchell for more information (both before and after the meeting) via e-mail at john-edra@comcast.net or by calling 720-281-5556.
